The Hollywood Suites: Triptychs & Quadrants
Continuing to focus on the rooms of The Hollywood Suites and my relationship to them, I began shooting Polaroid images of various architectural elements in the space - corners, floor/wall and ceiling/wall junctures, etc. By re-assembling the space two-dimensionally, using these prints, I created something new, consisting of the original information, yet quite skewed. This challenged me to re-think how I perceived the space initially and to consider what assumptions I brought to the problem.
I printed the images both as murals and as traditionally framed pieces. The murals were mounted on separate 36x48 inch aluminum panels; the small versions were made as 11x14 inch prints, matted and framed.
