Sprayed Cement Doors & Installations
During this period I explored some of the ideas of my photographic work as applied to the construction of real objects. These explorations involved wood doors, taken out of context and covered with a "skin" of sprayed cement. Some were made as stand-alone objects; others, part of a site-specific installation.
1978-1979
Corridors
Ten pieces each consisting of four vertical color photographs of corridors in old, Hollywood apartment buildings - The Hollywood Suites.
1978-1979
Door/Window Contructions
Multi-panel b&w photographs of doors and windows, litterally cut out of context and presented on the gallery wall as adjacent images. The work explored the issues of inside/outside experience and the nature of the interface -- this time, though, abstracting the dialog into the gallery setting.
